Bringing not-so-optimistic news for those anticipating the release of Redfall by Arkane Studios. The developers announced, that at launch, the title will not run at 60 frames per second on consoles - even on the Xbox Series X.
Apparently, the developer had problems with optimization. Therefore, on May 2, the console version of Redfall will offer Quality Mode exclusively. It will enable us to play:
- at 4K resolution and 30 fps on XSX;
- at 1440p resolution and 30 fps on XSS.
Intended to guarantee 60 fps, the performance mode will be added as part of one of the post-release updates. Let's hope it will happen sooner rather than later.
With such an announcement, it's hard to expect a positive response from the community. And indeed - there isn't one. Gamers are pissed, claiming that they didn't buy an Xbox Series X to play at 30 fps. Others consider the news a belated April Fool's joke.
Only owners of powerful PCs seem reassured. However, let me remind you that we still haven't learned the full system requirements. We have only the minimum, which significant as they are (Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon RX 580 / Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070).
Redfall will be released on May 2, 2023 - exclusively on PC and XSX/S. At the same time, the title will be available on PC/Xbox Game Pass.
